Apple released ‘Detectives’ ad to showcase iPhone 17 Pro’s 8x optical zoom

On New Year’s Eve, Apple also published a new “Shot on iPhone” ad that showcases the iPhone 17 Pro’s latest optical zoom capabilities. Previously, the telephoto camera on iPhone 16 Pro models was capable of shooting photos and videos at 5x optical zoom. The new telephoto camera on this year’s iPhone 17 Pro models has raised the bar to shoot at 8x optical zoom. This means that you can either shoot 48MP photos at 4x or 12MP photos at 8x for optical quality. Of course, the 8x zoom capability lets you shoot further when recording in 4K. Additionally, the iPhone 17 Pro also features the improved 18MP Center Stage front camera for you to take better-quality selfies (both portrait and landscape). The iPhone 17 Pro starts at $1,099, and the iPhone 17 Pro Max starts at $1,199 – both of which start at 256GB. You can also get the 2TB capacity on the iPhone 17 Pro Max, but it would obviously cost you an arm and a leg.
