According to ETNews, both the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max are set to feature significant display improvements across the board. While they are rumored to feature the same screen sizes as the current iPhone 17 Pro models, they will feature an improved display technology called “LTPO+”, which will be an improvement over the current LTPO displays that the latest flagship iPhone models use, even the base iPhone 17. LTPO+ will be more energy-efficient than a standard LTPO display, which means it will generate less heat, especially at higher brightness levels. Since LTPO display technology allows for lower refresh rates necessary for Always-On capability, we should see battery life improvements overall, especially in Always-On mode. Having LTPO+ displays will help differentiate the iPhone 18 Pro from the iPhone 18, which will not be announced alongside the Pro models, but it will make its debut in spring 2027 instead, per previous rumors.

Another rumor is that the iPhone 18 Pro will finally ditch the long-pill cutout design in favor of a hole-punch cutout in the top-left corner, similar to what some competitors have been doing. The question is: what will happen to Dynamic Island? The answer isn’t quite clear yet, so this should all be taken with a grain of salt, but a since-deleted rumor claimed that the Dynamic Island would still live on, but in a more “compact” design. Jon Prosser also published a concept video of how the Dynamic Island would work with the iPhone 18 Pro’s “alleged” cutout design, though there’s no word on whether he got his sources from or it was just a proof of concept overall.

We’re still about less than eight months until Apple is expected to introduce the iPhone 18 Pro models and the highly anticipated “iPhone Fold.”
