The latest developer beta of iOS 27 just came out today, and it wasn’t long before other developers found several interesting new tidbits that hint at the upcoming features for Apple’s unreleased products. As a matter of fact, Macworld discovered several Battery Health strings that reference an iPhone with not one, but two batteries. Even MacRumors has backed up their findings with these new strings discovered below:
- “The batteries in this iPhone are performing as expected.”
- “The health of the batteries in this iPhone has significantly degraded. An Apple Authorized Service Provider can replace the batteries to restore full performance and capacity.”
- “The health of the batteries in this iPhone has significantly degraded, and one of the batteries could not be verified as a genuine Apple battery. An Apple Authorized Service Provider can replace the batteries to restore full performance and capacity.”
At first glance, this small detail may not be relevant to current iPhone models as strings reference a single battery, but it’s always the little details that matter. If you’ve been following along, you know that Apple is primed to launch its first-ever foldable iPhone this September, and recent rumors indicate that the supposedly called “iPhone Ultra” will feature a dual-battery design, potentially with one 1,921-mAh battery on one half of the device and one larger 2,962-mAh battery on the opposite half of the device. With that said, these leaked strings of code further confirm that a dual-battery implementation is indeed coming to the “iPhone Ultra”, following the suit of other competing foldable smartphones.
This would be a huge benefit when it comes to repairs, as each battery cell could be individually replaced in case one of them fails, leading to reduced repair fees overall.
