The updated iMac that is planned to launch this fall is just part of the story. According to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, the next MacBook Neo will be one of the eleven new Macs that Apple is planning to release over the course of a couple of years.
As we all know, the most obvious upgrade will be newer silicon, which could mean that the next MacBook Neo could feature the A19 Pro chip. This will be a more than solid improvement over the A18 Pro chip for this reason. As a refresher, the current MacBook Neo features 8GB of unified memory, and that is the only memory configuration that it’s offered in. This is rather due to the A18 Pro chip’s architecture. However, the A19 Pro chip on the iPhone Air and iPhone 17 Pro has 12GB of memory, so by bringing the A19 Pro chip to the next MacBook Neo, this will give even more headroom to run most of the essential apps at once. I wouldn’t be surprised if the next MacBook Neo would use the binned A19 Pro chip similar to how the current MacBook Neo uses the binned A18 Pro chip with one less GPU core.
Additionally, today’s report also suggests that the next MacBook Neo will offer a fresh palette of colors. The current color lineup for the MacBook Neo consists of Silver, Blush, Indigo, and Citrus, so offering different colors in the next iteration will further differentiate the two generations.
Although the report doesn’t indicate when the MacBook Neo will be updated, it’s likely that the MacBook Neo will be updated on a yearly basis similar to the MacBook Air. Since the MacBook Neo was introduced in March, we could see the next MacBook Neo next March.
Apple announced that the MacBook Neo saw very strong demand; of course, with the recent price hikes for this machine going from $599 to $699, demand could change. Still, the MacBook Neo provides the best value for a complete Mac experience.
