Ming-Chi Kuo reports that Apple is doubling its MacBook Neo supplier orders from 5 million to 10 million units to meet increased demand for the laptop. Rising memory prices, supply chain constraints, and overwhelming demand for the iPhone-powered $599 Mac have pushed MacBook Neo deliveries back in recent weeks. Here’s what you need to know.
In a lengthy post to X.com, Kuo mentioned that supplier Sunny Optical “has become a new Apple CCM supplier, producing the MacBook Neo CCM.” CCM stands for Compact Camera Module. He then adds, “MacBook Neo shipments have come in better than expected, with the 2026 shipment forecast raised from 5 million to 10 million units.”
We reported earlier this month that Apple is quickly running out of the binned A18 Pro chips used in the MacBook Neo, prompting the company to order a new batch. This move may force Apple to discontinue the $599 model and offer only the Touch ID-equipped $699 model with 512 GB storage, citing rising supplier costs.

Kuo went on to highlight the supplier’s deeper relationship with Apple, noting that Sunny is “becoming a new Apple CCM supplier, with iPhone CCM orders expected in 2028.” He adds the company is “winning the high-ASP variable aperture lens for the 2H26 new iPhones, with an order share approaching 50%.”
Hopefully, Apple’s attempt to increase supplier orders will mean fewer delays and more MacBook Neos in the world. In the meantime, make sure to check out our super in-depth review of the MacBook Neo.
