Apple is rumored to feature a 120Hz Display refresh rate on their Pro models this year. Apple already has a 120Hz Touch Sample Rate which was announced with the iPhone X on 2017.
According to Max Weinback, who shared exclusive details of the 2020 iPhone series with EverythingApplePro, the iPhone 12 Pro (6.1 inches) and the iPhone 12 Pro Max (6.7 inches) will have a 120Hz Display Refresh rate and will switch to 60Hz when required to preserve battery life. For example, when Low Power Mode will be turned on, the display refresh rate will be lowered to 60Hz.
Face ID is also rumored to get an upgrade this year. It will unlock at wider angles along with a smaller Face ID sensor than the iPhone 11 Pro Series. The smaller Face ID Sensor will give more room for the display increasing the screen to body ratio of the device which is an upgrade from the iPhone 11 Pro series already has more than 80% Screen to Body Ratio.
According to Max Weinback, there will be multiple benefits of the LIDAR Sensor on the rear. It will improve auto-focus, portrait mode, and ofcourse, Augmented Reality. Smart HDR may also receive an update with it having reduced noise in low light environments. Apple may also improve the optical zoom sensor which may support 3x optical zoom instead of 2x optical zoom which was introduced with the iPhone 7 Plus in 2016.
Since the iPhone 12 Pro series will have a higher refresh rate and 5G connectivity, it will require a larger battery and an efficient processor. According to Weinback, the 6.7 inch iPhone, the iPhone 12 Pro Max will have a 4400 mAh battery which is almost a 10% increase from the iPhone 11 Pro Max which has a 3969 mAh battery.
