We reported this morning that there was a conversation by a user on Reddit that had a conversation with Walmart customer service regarding the company accepting contactless payments in its stores.
It has also been seen throughout the last few months with sightings such as Apple Pay being added as a payment option to select Walmart stores across the United States in Apple Maps.
As of this afternoon, there is even more news about the possibility of Apple Pay being accepted at Walmart stores in the hopeful near future from the same Reddit source.
The conversation can be found below:
There is also an image that shows exactly what was said in the conversation with Walmart’s online chat-based customer service. Note that the blue text is the Reddit user and the gray text bubbles are Walmart’s customer service rep.
Whether this means Walmart will be adding contactless payment methods such as Apple Pay this month, next month, in the fall or even next year is currently unknown.
What is known is, according to Walmart’s customer service, it is in the works, meaning that we could be seeing in stores (hopefully) sometime this year.
If Walmart were to begin accepting Apple Pay in its stores, Apple Card users would get two percent in Daily Cash on each purchase they make.
