When it comes to Music, it’s something that brings all of us closer. Study shows that 90% of the population listen to music everyday for an average of 33 hours a week. We usually share our favorite songs or new findings with our friends and family, but what if you had the option to listen to it simultaneously with them?

Well, Spotify has the feature now. Spotify’s Group Session beta, released back in May, allowed Premium users to share and listen to music together in real time. Their Newsroom post reads,

In our latest innovation, we’re taking Group Session one step further with brand-new functionality that allows Spotify Premium users around the world to tune into the same playlist or podcast simultaneously. So no matter the distance””whether six feet apart or a thousand miles away””you and the members of your squad can now each listen to the same content at the same time on your own devices (as well as control playback).

With this feature, Spotify Premium users can simultaneously listen to music playlists and podcasts with their friends irrespective of the distance between them. The audio can be shared with group of Two to Five people by sharing a link which they have to join in order to be a part of the Group Session.

How to use this feature?

  1. Click on the Connect menu in the bottom-left corner of the Play Screen
  2. Scroll Down and click on “Start a Group Session”
  3. Share the invite link with your friends using which they can join the session (OR) They can also scan the Spotify code to join the session

The participants along with the host can play, pause, seek the music and the action will be immediately reflected on the other members of the Group.

This is a great feature and Apple should take a look at it and have it enabled by using the Family Sharing that is already inbuilt to the system or follow the same Invite Link process. I personally think, it would be good since as a Music Lover, I quickly share any new releases with my friends. It would obviously be a good experience to listen to the same music with them in real-time.
