Sonnet has announced the new eGPU Breakaway Puck Radeon RX 5700, and Breakaway Puck Radeon RX 5500 XT Docks for Intel Macs, adding two USB ports, better performance, and now supports Apple’s Pro Display XDR. M1 ARM-based Macs do not support eGPUs.
An eGPU ”“ short for ”External Graphics Processing Unit” is an external graphics card that can be hooked up to a computer. Sonnet’s new eGPU are the latest in their Thunderbolt 3 external graphics processing systems; some of Sonnet’s products were sold at Apple’s stores.
Each dock now feature Thunderbolt 3 ports to support Apple’s Pro Display XDR, and  features two USB ports, LG’s UltraFine 5K Display, and two regular USB ports. Each model also supports up to three 4K 60Hz displays, or one 6K and two 4K displays at the same time.
Both models release will replace the eGFX Radeon RX 570, and eGFX Breakaway Puck Radeon RX 560 eGPU’s, while they will have the same design and build, but with much better performance.
The eGPU Breakaway Puck Radeon RX 5700 and eGPU Breakaway Puck Radeon RX 5500 XT are available now from Sonnet for $899.99 and $599.99.
