Apple this week has launched its “Find My Certification App” today. This allows third-party manufacturers to further integrate their accessories with the “Find My” application. Last year, Apple announced that it will expand its “Find My” network to recognize third-party products.
The launch of this app gives further evidence that Apple is opening its doors to third-party devices for “Find My” integration. Apple has implemented additional features in the “Find My” app in the recent beta of iOS 14.5 such as the new “Items” tab. Additionally, companies have already announced a number of products that will take advantage with the “Find My” network, including direct competitors to Apple’s accessories.
Many followers of Apple are anticipating the launch of Apple’s Tile competitor, AirTags. Although analysts couldn’t find any additional references to AirTags, they expect Apple to debut them in the spring. Earlier today, Apple filed a patent on how Apple Pay can take advantage of the U1 chip. The features of the U1 chip can further benefit the upcoming accessory from Apple.
The “Find My Certification” app is now available on the App Store. What do you think about Apple allowing third-party accessory makers to work with the “Find My” integration? Let us know in the comments below, or tweet us @Appleosophy.
