Apple has closed its Charleson, South Carolina store after 20 staff members were infected with COVID-19.

On Apple’s website, it shows that the store will be closed until next Monday, August 23. The Cupertino-based giant reinstated the mask requirement in July one month after nixing the mandate.

Apple Store employees are known to respect the COVID-19 guidelines and are also tough on customers to obey the rules. Which makes this story unexpected.

This is a major downgrade for the company, with more stores expected to close down if the health crisis continues to deteriorate. The company has 270 retail stores across the U.S. and most of them re-opened in June.

As of August 18, the United States reported 162,724 new cases, with 7,185,751 active ones.

Due to the highly infectious Delta variant, Apple is expected to implement more restrictions across all Apple Stores like axing its in-person projects like with the in-store classes.

If the health crisis continues to deteriorate in contrast with Apple’s business interest, it would certainly be tough for the company, as all eyes are on September where an upcoming event is expected to be held.

Apple is expected to unveil new iPhones, iPads, AirPods, Apple Watches, and Macs in the coming months.
