Apple’s upcoming iPhone 14 trial production has begun by supplier Foxconn as the design has been reportedly finalized to start the first phase of mass production of the device.
According to a new report by the Taiwan Economic Times, Apple’s top supplier and manufacturer Foxconn will produce the higher-end iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max while the lower-end iPhone 14 mini and iPhone 14 devices will be produced by Luxshare ”“ another Apple supplier.
Foxconn will begin OEM trial production of the two flagship devices in order to ensure a stable readiness of mass production, while Luxshare will produce the lower-end devices, becoming “second supplier”:
“Apple iPhone 14 has recently entered the OEM trial production operation. It is reported that the red supply chain indicator factory Luxshare has not yet obtained the new product trial production import mass production service order (NPI), and will miss the OEM with the best sales, high unit price, and higher profit. For the high-end iPhone 14, this year, it may only get orders for the basic iPhone 14 and become the second supplier.”
“This means that Taiwan’s iPhone foundries have aggressively fought off the red supply chain this year, gaining Apple’s favor and reversing the situation that Luxshare used to take orders for high-end iPhones.”
Earlier this year, another report claimed that the iPhone 14 Pro models will sport a pill-shaped camera cutout instead of a regular round-shaped cutout. Additionally, the report cited that the next devices will feature under-display Face ID.
Apple is expected to debut the iPhone 14 lineup this September, other than the refreshed design, the devices could feature a 48MP camera system, 8K video, potentially a full eSIM variant, and 8GB of RAM ”“ the highest ever on any iPhone.
