Apple’s major iPhone supplier Foxconn has started its annual hiring spree for the production of this year’s iPhone lineup. The world’s largest iPhone factory, located in Zhengzhou has started a new recruitment campaign and is also offering cash benefits to workers.

The parent company Hon Hai Precision Industry, is providing a bonus of up to 9,500 yuan (~$1,345) to new and returning workers on completion of four months of their job. The bonus is increased by around 19% as compared to the last year. This news comes after Foxconn’s move to suspend recruitment of assembly line workers in May.

Last month, the Zhengzhou local government imposed a seven-day lockdown in the city to curb the spread of COVID-19. Apple’s suppliers have also started shipping the iPhone 14 components to Foxconn for the final assembly of the product.

Earlier this year, the manufacturer signed a partnership deal with Indian conglomerate Vedanta that will make the supplier produce chips and other semiconductors amid the ongoing global chip shortage that is currently affecting many in the industry

Apple is expected to debut the iPhone 14 lineup this September, other than the refreshed design, the devices could feature a 48MP camera system, 8K video, potentially a full eSIM variant, and 8GB of RAM ”“ the highest ever on any iPhone.
