Apple Watch Series 8 might feature the most significant display increase since the Apple Watch Series 4 back in 2018. The watch could sport a 1.99-inch display analysts say ”“ a 5% increase.

A 5% increase in display size will be minor for users of newer models but major for users of older models. The current display sizes for the 41mm and 45mm Apple Watch Series 7 models are as follows:

  • 41mm Apple Watch: 1.691-inches
  • 45mm ”ŒApple Watch: 1.901-inches

A prominent and reliable analyst from Display Supply Chain Consultants (DSCC) ”“ Ross Young ”“ stated on Twitter that the next Apple Watch will feature a 1.99-inch screen in a new bigger size. The current large-sized watch is 45mm, so we could expect a 47 to 50mm size during the launch this fall.

Adding further, MacRumors reports that analyst Jeff Pu from Haitong International Securities stated in an investors note that Apple supplier Luxshare will be the “sole supplier” for a “high-end” 2-inch Apple Watch model.

On Sunday, Mark Gurman of Bloomberg reported in his newsletter that the major new feature of the next watches will be the ability to detect fever using a new body-temperature sensor.

Ming-Chi Kuo also stated that he expects Apple to add a body temperature sensor to the next Apple Watch but cautioned that it could happen only if the algorithm meets the requirements.

In his newsletter, Gurman expects that Series 8 will have minor changes to the overall hardware, and when it comes to the displays, he talks of updates to them, hoping they are brighter than before.

“Other than the body-temperature reader, other hardware changes will probably be minor. As I mentioned earlier, the new models are likely to offer the same processing power as the Series 6. There’s also been internal chatter of updated displays in the new high-end models. I’m hoping they’re brighter.”

The Apple Watch Series 8 will have the same chip as the Series 6 (despite one generational gap between them), an updated display, bigger case sizes, and more.
