According to a report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple is currently developing a new iMac. In addition to this, the company has three new MacBooks ready for launch this spring or summer.

  • According to Gurman, “Apple Inc.’s next iMac desktop is in an advanced stage of development called engineering validation testing” and “the company is planning to launch about three new Macs between late spring and summer, first 15-inch MacBook Air, the first Mac Pro with Apple chips, and an update to the 13-inch MacBook Air”
  • The iMac was last updated in April 2021 featuring the M1 Chip and a 24-inch 4.5K Retina display. The upcoming iMac is expected to feature a new stand, the same 24-inch screen, and some relocated internals. It is not expected to come in new colors, but rather in pink, blue, silver, and orange color variants. Production is expected to start in at least three months, and it will be available to order in the second half of the year.
  • Regarding the new MacBooks possibly being released this spring or summer, it is expected that the first 15-inch MacBook Air and the first Mac Pro with Apple Silicon will be launched, along with an update for the 13-inch MacBook Air. The main question is what chips these computers will use. The Air models are predicted to launch with M2/M3 chips, while the Mac Pro will use an M2 Ultra with up to 24 CPU cores, 76 graphics cores, and 192 gigabytes of memory. The new iMac will feature the new M3 chip, which will mark a transition from 5-nanometer to 3-nanometer chip technology. According to Gurman, “A 15-inch MacBook Air with an M2 chip may still excite consumers, but a new M2 13-inch MacBook Air is unlikely to be compelling. So it’s plausible that Apple is gearing up for at least the new 13-inch model to be an M3 machine.”

It is currently unclear whether there will be an Apple Spring event in March or April. If there is, we can expect to see some new MacBooks and updated accessories, such as cases or Apple Watch bands in new colors.
