As iPads come in larger sizes, many users would like to make their workspaces bigger. That’s why the latest version of iPadOS has been offering the “More Space” option for the iPad Pro and the iPad Air. What “More Space” does is to increase the virtual space of the user interface so that you can have more room for your windows and/or have windows show more of their content.

If you have any of the following models, then you can use this feature:

  • iPad Air (5th generation)
  • iPad Pro (11-inch) (1st generation or later)
  • iPad Pro (12.9-inch) (3rd generation or later)

To enable this option: head to Settings > Display & Brightness > Display Zoom. You can either choose the “Default” mode or the “More Space” mode to show more content. Changing the Display Zoom will restart your iPad, but you’ll be ready to use your iPad after a few seconds. Note that text and UI elements will appear smaller after selecting “More Space”. Additionally, only the 12.9-inch iPad Pro has a “Larger Text” option for text and UI elements to appear larger than Standard Mode.

Here are the resolutions that the select iPad models will render for Display Zoom:

iPad Air

  • 2360 x 1640 – Default
  • 2746 x 1908 – More Space

iPad Pro (11-inch)

  • 2388 x 1668 – Default
  • 2778 x 1940 – More Space

iPad Pro (12.9-inch)

  • 2048 x 1536 – Larger Text
  • 2732 x 2048 – Default
  • 3180 x 2384 – More Space

Those models mentioned above also support Stage Manager for multitasking between various apps and windows similar to macOS, and iPadOS 17, which will be released later this fall, will bring several enhancements to this feature.

Will you be taking advantage of this option if you have either the iPad Air or iPad Pro? How will you be using this feature for your everyday tasks? Let us know in the comments below.
