Apple to Hold Mac-Centric Event at the End of October?

Avatar for Nick Soong

For years, Apple usually announced new Macs around October or November. For instance, we saw the first Apple Silicon Macs in November 2020 and the redesigned MacBook Pros in October 2021. Now, according to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg, it looks like Apple is gearing up to host its Mac-focused press event at the end of this month, either October 30 or October 31.

Earlier this month, MacRumors obtained a memo that Apple would start accepting trade-ins for recently released models. Currently, we’re seeing several shipping delays for the 24-inch iMac as well as all three sizes of the MacBook Pro. Excluding the M1 MacBook Air, the iMac is the only Mac model with the M1 chip that Apple sells. After every Mac model has been updated with an M2-series chip, Gurman believes that the iMac is most likely to receive an update this month, and you can read why Apple might update the iMac with the M2/M2 Pro here.

Although it remains unclear whether the 13-inch MacBook Pro will receive an update this month, the 14- and 16-inch MacBook Pros could receive another iterative update after they were updated with the M2 Pro/Max chips back in January. DigiTimes reported that the upcoming models could feature improved displays with better efficiency.

Before Apple had its earnings call back in November 2018, the company announced new iPads and Macs at the end of October, and since Apple’s next earnings call is scheduled for November 2, we could see history repeating itself.
