Usually, iPhone models will retain 80% of their original capacity after 500 charge cycles. Now, as first reported by 9to5Mac, Apple has updated its support document to reflect that all of the current iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models have a longer lifespan at double the number of charge cycles. After 1,000 charge cycles, those models will retain 80% of their original capacity. This is up to par with several other Apple products that retain 80% of their original capacity after 1,000 charge cycles, including the Apple Watch models, iPad models, and MacBook models.

Users with any iPhone 15 model have additional features or options to help them see or optimize the overall battery health for those models. They’ve had the option to charge their iPhone 15 models at 80%, which will help prolong the overall lifespan for those models every further. They’ll also be able to see the cycle count on any iPhone 15 model.

If you want to glance at your iPhone’s battery capacity, head to Settings, navigate to Battery, and then Battery Health & Charging. If you’re on the latest iOS 17.4 beta and you’re using an iPhone 15 model, you’ll see even more details of the battery health at a glance.
