Although we didn’t see a hardware upgrade with Apple’s rugged Apple Watch Ultra as we only got a new color for the Ultra 2 in black, Apple announced its press release that the Ultra 2 will receive a few new features that were introduced with the Series 10.
First, Ultra 2 will be able to provide sleep apnea notifications. This feature will also be coming to the previous Series 9. This will be essentially helpful for users to detect any signs of sleep apnea as breathing disturbances could cause long-term consequences in a person’s overall health. Users will be able to track and receive results in the Health app to share with their healthcare providers.
Second, the built-in dual speakers in Ultra 2 will be capable of media playback. This will be great for customers who don’t have AirPods with them or just want to casually listen to their favorite songs from Apple Music, and with cellular connectivity, users can stream and listen to millions of songs that Apple Music has to offer directly from their wrist without having an iPhone near them. This feature also works with other media playback apps, including Apple Podcasts, Apple Books, and even third-party apps.
Third, the Tides app is also coming to Ultra 2, so adventurers out in the water can track forecasted tidal information such as high/low tides and sunrises/sunsets. This will be great for kayakers who venture out along the coastlines.
So these are the new key features that are coming to Ultra 2. Ultra 2 in the new black color is available for pre-order today, with availability in stores starting September 20.
