The next-generation M5 chip is expected to make its debut on the next iPad Pro coming this fall; however, that device won’t be the only one that features the latest generation of Apple Silicon. As discovered by MacRumors contributor Aaron Perris, the leaked source from yesterday confirms that Apple is planning to update the Vision Pro with that M5 chip. This will be huge great news for those waiting for a second-generation Vision Pro.

The Vision Pro was introduced on June 2023 and saw its initial launch in the United States on February 2024. Starting at $3,499, it has been one of Apple’s most expensive products in years; however, it packs so technology that have made this device super deluxe. Anyways, it’s been rumored on when Apple will launch the upgraded Vision Pro as there were several conflicting rumors regarding the system-on-the-chip the next Vision Pro will use. Bloomberg‘s Mark Gurman claimed that it would feature the M4 chip, but Ming-Chi Kuo claimed otherwise. Still, Kuo’s claim is in line based on confirmation from the revealed code references. Since the Vision Pro has been a relatively new product from Apple with relatively little adoption by customers, we should expect any major hardware or design changes; however, we could see a new, more comfortable strap as either an included or option accessory for this next Vision Pro.

It has also been rumored that Apple is working on a cheaper version of the Vision Pro that would rely on either a Mac or iPhone for tethering, but that product is still up in the air for Apple on when to launch that. Either way, it seems that Apple is going to a huge season of rollouts across many of its product categories, so we may expect the next Vision Pro to come out sometime in the fall.
