iPhone 18 Pro Leaks: New Camera & Display Tech

Even with the current iPhone lineup still fresh, the rumor mill for 2026 is already spinning. Fresh details about the potential iPhone 18 Pro series have surfaced, courtesy of the well-known Chinese leaker Digital Chat Station on Weibo.

The most notable rumor concerns the display. The leaker claims the “screen form” will change, with Apple testing a special HIAA (Hole-in-Active-Area) punch-hole solution. This technology could allow for a much more “miniaturized” design, possibly shrinking the Dynamic Island or the camera cutout significantly.

Camera enthusiasts also have something to watch. The leak claims the main camera on the iPhone 18 Pro is currently testing a variable aperture. This feature, common in traditional cameras, would give users more granular control over depth-of-field and low-light performance. However, not everything is changing; the report suggests the large, horizontal camera “Deco” (module) on the back will remain.

Two other intriguing details were mentioned. The first is a potential “transparent design” on the back cover. It’s unclear what this entails, but it’s a fascinating design concept. Secondly, the Pro Max model is rumored to be the first iPhone to feature a steel-cased battery, a potential shift aimed at improving thermal management.

As with all leaks this far out, these details represent features Apple is testing, and plans can certainly change before production. Still, they provide an exciting, early glimpse into what Apple’s engineers are exploring for the next generation of iPhone.
