Apple Launches New Mini Apps Partner Program

Apple has announced an exciting new initiative for its developer community: the Mini Apps Partner Program. This new program is designed to support developers who create App Store apps that offer self-contained experiences, like mini-games or services, built with web technologies like HTML5 and JavaScript.

Developers participating in the program will benefit from a reduced App Store commission rate of 15%. This 15% rate applies to qualifying In-App Purchases (IAP) made within eligible mini apps.

According to Apple, this reduced rate applies to digital goods and services sold within a “qualifying mini app.” A qualifying mini app is defined as one created by a person or company that is not controlled by or under common control with the developer of the main host app.

To be eligible for the program, developers must meet several key requirements. Their app must be available on both iOS and iPadOS and use Apple’s native In-App Purchase system. Participating apps must also integrate specific technologies, including the Advanced Commerce API for merchandising and the Declared Age Range API to ensure age-appropriate content.

Apple has confirmed that developers can participate in the Mini Apps Partner Program even if they are already enrolled in other programs, such as the App Store Small Business Program.

For developers interested in joining, the process is straightforward. Account Holders in the Apple Developer Program can submit a request form to be considered for the Mini Apps Partner Program.
