We just entered into another year, which means we have about eight months until Apple is set to launch the next generation of flagship iPhone models. As previously rumored, Apple is expected to introduce just three iPhone models later in the fall of 2026 instead of four: iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the most anticipated model of all: the iPhone Fold.
A well-known analyst, Jeff Pu, put out another report that lists what may be the hardware specs for Apple’s next flagship iPhones for fall 2026, most notably those of the iPhone Fold.

Jeff Pu claims that the iPhone Fold will feature Touch ID instead of Face ID. This may feel like a tradeoff, but it’s likely because Apple was not able to engineer the TrueDepth camera system into a much thinner body where the iPhone Fold would be in “unfolded” state. Additionally, because the iPhone Fold would be so thin, Apple will use a combination of titanium and aluminum for optimal strength and lightness. That’s why Apple used titanium on the iPhone Air’s frame to prevent the phone from bending.
But what about the base iPhone 18? That will make its debut alongside the iPhone 18e and the iPhone Air 2 later in the spring of 2027. This is to prevent product cannibalization between the base and Pro models because Apple has made the default model so good. These specs may not be final, but we’ll certainly get more details about Apple’s upcoming foldable ahead of its launch.
