With the launch of Apple’s new AirTag today, Apple has started rolling out watchOS 26.2.1 to the public. This update comes around 1.5 months after the release of watchOS 26.2, which brought changes to Sleep Score.
According to Apple’s Release Notes for watchOS 26.2.1, “This update provides support for AirTag (2nd generation) along with bug fixes.”
This update will enable Precision Finding for the Apple Watch Series 9, Series 10, Ultra 2, Ultra 3, and SE 3, as they come with the second-generation Ultra Wideband chip. This feature allows users to find their items over a wider range by using the new AirTag. Apple has not yet confirmed if the feature will work with the previous AirTag model with the first-generation Ultra Wideband chip.
This update is available on all devices that support watchOS 26, including:
- Apple Watch Series 11
- Apple Watch Series 10
- Apple Watch Series 9
- Apple Watch Series 8
- Apple Watch Series 7
- Apple Watch Series 6
- Apple Watch SE 3
- Apple Watch SE 2
- Apple Watch Ultra 3
- Apple Watch Ultra 2
- Apple Watch Ultra
It does not seem like this update contains any security fixes, as Apple has not revealed any.
