It is no secret that Apple has begun working on its 20th-anniversary iPhone model, based on previous rumors, which is planned to launch late next year. Now, a Chinese leaker, known as “Digital Chat Station,” posted on Weibo that Apple is currently sampling two new display panels that could be used for the two upcoming iPhone models to commemorate the 20th anniversary of the original iPhone’s launch.
As previously rumored, the 20th anniversary iPhone will be offered in two screen sizes just like with the current iPhone Pro models, and these display panels from today’s reports measure approximately 6.4 inches and 7 inches, which will likely be reserved for the “iPhone 20 Pro” and “iPhone 20 Pro Max”, respectively. The leaker also claims that although the physical screen sizes for both models will increase in terms of display sizes, both models will retain the same aspect ratio as the current models, and the displays may extend (or curve over) beyond the edge of the exterior, giving a true “borderless” design, which would corroborate a previous rumor from Bloomberg.
The last time that the iPhone Pro models had an increase in screen sizes was with the iPhone 16 Pro lineup. The smaller 16 Pro jumped from 6.1 to 6.3 inches along the diagonal while the larger 16 Pro Max jumped from 6.7 to 6.9 inches. The upcoming iPhone 18 Pro models that are set to launch this September are expected to retain the same screen sizes as the current iPhone 17 Pro models.
Other features that could come to the 20th anniversary iPhone are under-display Face ID technology, the A21 Pro chip, and a pure silicon battery, so if you’re waiting for a true redesign for a “slab” iPhone design, then the “iPhone 20 Pro” is the one to look forward to.
