In the latest commercial uploaded by Apple yesterday, it depicts of three women sitting at a table and comparing pictures on their iPhone XRs. They’re looking at the photos of their kids taken with Depth Control on iPhone XR.
One woman questions about the picture of her son in the other woman’s iPhone and asks her, “Did you bokeh my child?” She then answers her that the iPhone XR did the Portrait Mode effect unintentionally, and it was a mistake. Then she demonstrated how to adjust the Depth Control on her iPhone XR, by adjusting the intensity on the slider. This removes the blurred background from the image.
Apple introduced Depth Control for iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and the iPhone XR back in September. This feature, similar to Portrait Mode, adjusts the intensity of the effect. Currently, this feature is limited to the 2018 iPhones. Apple will most likely roll out this feature to the next iPhones, later this year.
