A new rumor has suggested that Apple will be making iOS 14 so that it works on all of the devices that currently run on iOS 13, which is said to be from a source with a good track record on Apple news and rumors.
iOS 13 was unveiled in June 2019 at Apple’s annual World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) keynote presentation. This was the first version of the operating system to come with Dark Mode, which was a feature that users had been wanting for a few years by the time it was finally unveiled.
Fast-forwarding to 2020, it would look as though Apple is going to have the same set of devices that will run on iOS 13. Those devices include:
- iPod Touch 7th Generation
- iPhone SE
- iPhone 6S
- iPhone 6S Plus
- iPhone 7
- iPhone 7 Plus
- iPhone 8
- iPhone 8 Plus
- iPhone X
- iPhone XR
- iPhone XS
- iPhone XS Max
- iPhone 11
- iPhone 11 Pro
- iPhone 11 Pro Max
The same applies to those with iPads and that the same iPads that are compatible with iPadOS 13 will be compatible for iPadOS 14. Those iPads are the following:
- iPad Mini 5
- iPad 5th Generation
- iPad 6th Generation
- iPad 7th Generation
- iPad Air 3
- 9.7-inch iPad Pro
- 10.5-inch iPad Pro
- 11-inch iPad Pro
- 12.9-inch iPad Pro
Apple has also been rumored to be unveiling a new iPhone SE 2 that could lead to an Apple Event in March 2020 and release date in either late-March or early-April. This new iPhone SE 2 would not be the size of the current iPhone SE (4-inches) but instead have a screen size of 4.7-inches, which is the same screen size as the iPhone 8.
If Apple sticks to its traditions, then we should expect to see iOS 14 be unveiled at WWDC 2020, where we will see the new functions and features of it. The same can be said for iPadOS 14 too.
