Initially, when the iPhone SE 2 rumours started rolling out and catching everyone’s attention, it was the usual. We were expecting the same design, same forehead and chin bezels, same form factor. Same specs as the iPhone 7 were being predicted. However now, iPhone SE 2 rumours are onto a new level. Now the iPhone SE 2 rumours are suggesting a radical redesign, not just a moderate one. This is because of schematic and CAD leaks.
iPhone SE 2 Case leaked
On MobileFun, which is a website that sell phones and accessories, there was a listing for an iPhone SE 2 case. As you can see from the picture below, this is the predicted iPhone SE 2 design.
Glass back for wireless charging. Same form factor as the iPhone 5S and original SE. However, the front of the phone is where things are different. Instead of bezels, we can see an edge to edge display which will probably be LCD. There is a notch at the top for the rumoured Face – ID to be included. The case is selling for $10.98 including VAT and is currently available for pre-order. This design looks very sleek and appealing with the space grey back and the edge to edge display. The case is made from silicone/gel in a variety of colours, e.g. white, green, purple, etc.
Are We Being Realistic?
The design looks incredible. The SE 2 looks to be having a major redesign from its predecessor, the SE. This is similar to how the iPhone X had a major redesign from its predecessor, the iPhone 7. For a budget iPhone around $300-$400, this phone would be incredible. But are we being unrealistic? This phone could accidentally compete with the 3 new models being announced at WWDC 2018. Apple will obviously not want that as the market for the original SE was quite narrow. Customers who wanted a somewhat-flagship iPhone for a cheap price and small form factor got the SE.
The iPhone SE 2/ iPhone SE 2018 has been confirmed. It is a project Apple is working on and will be released. When? Probably at WWDC 2018. How much? We don’t know yet, but we can only hope the price point will be around $300-$400.
