Food delivery services have become the new normal during the coronavirus pandemic. You cannot be too surprised that they have taken off so much due to the lack of in-restaurant dining options.

With that said, people will still be people and want to eat out as much as possible.

Coming from someone who has not used the service much, I thought I would give it a shot since I am now in a new urban area of the country. Plus, it is an excuse to use Apple Pay and not have to leave my apartment for food, which is always a good thing.

I ended up placing an order through the fast-food restaurant Wahlburgers via DoorDash. I placed my order around 5:45 p.m. on Wednesday, January 6. The expectation was that I set to receive my order at 6:23 p.m. that evening, which was perfect timing for me to eat dinner.

If you’re wondering what I ordered, it was a simple Smahlburger, which is essentially just a plain cheeseburger and fries. None of that tomato, pickle, onion, ketchup or mustard crap on my burgers. I’m sorry, I have just never been a fan of them.

I did not order a soda because I have plenty of Mountain Dew in my fridge in my apartment, therefore, no need to spend more money on something I don’t need.

The good news is my food came right to my apartment door at 6:23 p.m. No minute earlier or later, right on schedule.

What made it perfect was the fact that my order itself was perfect. It truly was a plain cheeseburger with fries.

In the past, I have had issues with fast-food restaurants getting what should be an easy order, yet they find a way to make a problem out of it. This has been the case at places like McDonald’s and Wendy’s over the years.

If there is one aspect about DoorDash over its competition like UberEats and Postmates, it’s that it actually has free delivery options. I’m not saying that the other two do not, but that option has not been something I have seen when using either of those two food delivery services.

Overall, with how simple my order was and that Wahlburgers got it right, and that my driver from DoorDash was able to get my meal to me on time gives them a 4/4-star rating. It also helps that my delivery was free too. It’s a service that I do plan to use more in the future.

Rating: 4/4 stars
