We reported a few days ago that the ESPN and ABC News apps went offline for good on the Apple TV third generation after it was previously announced.

Now it appears as though both apps are no longer available on the Apple TV third generation.

In order to play content from ESPN or ABC News, users will have to AirPlay it from a device like the iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad. The ESPN and ABC News apps are available on the tvOS-based Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K.

Other apps the Apple TV third generation has lost this year are YouTube, MLB.TV, FOX NOW and CBS All Access.

What are your thoughts on the ESPN and ABC News apps no longer being available on the Apple TV third generation? Comment below or let us know on Twitter at @appleosophy.
