Today, Apple has pushed out major updates to all of its software platforms. This includes iOS 16.2, iPadOS 16.2, watchOS 9.2, tvOS 16.2, and macOS Ventura 13.1. While some of these new features appear across some of those platforms such as the new Freeform app and the just-announced Apple Music Sing, what’s more notable is that these updates have fixed over 30 security vulnerabilities. Additionally, because Apple cares how important it is to keep your devices protected against such vulnerabilities, Apple has pushed out their security updates to older models that aren’t compatible with running the latest operating systems, specifically iOS/iPadOS 15.7.2, macOS Monterey 12.6.2, and macOS Big Sur 11.7.2.
Here are some of the new features that these new updates offer:
- Freeform (Mac, iPad, and iPhone)
- Apple Music Sing (iPad, iPhone, and Apple TV)
- Advanced Data Protection for iCloud (Mac, iPad, and iPhone)
- Lock Screen enhancements for Always-on Display on iPhone 14 Pro models
- SharePlay support in Game Center for multiplayer games (iPhone/iPad)
- External display support on Stage Manager on M1/M2 iPad Pro models
For more details on the new features and bug fixes, go to Settings and head to Software Update to read the release notes. If you have a compatible device, you should definitely update it, so you’ll get the latest features.
