Apple unveils new Mac Studio and finally brings Apple Silicon to Mac Pro

Today, Apple introduced new Macs to their lineup including, for the first time, a new Mac Pro with Apple Silicon.

The new Mac Studio has been updated to feature the new M2 Max and M2 Ultra chips, improving performance in such a compact design. The M2 Max variant features a 12-core CPU, up to a 38-core GPU, and up to 96GB of unified memory while the M2 Ultra variant features a 24-core CPU, up to a 76-core GPU, and up to 192GB of unified memory.

Compared to the M1 Max, Mac Studio provides a 50% percent faster render on After Effects. Additionally, it features better connectivity with Wi-Fi 6E, and Bluetooth 5.3, along with a higher bandwidth HDMI, enabling 8K resolution and 240 frame rates. With the M2 Ultra, it supports up to eight External Displays.

Mac Studio starts at $1,999 and $1,799 for education. It is available to order today, shipping to customers next week.

The new Mac Pro, for the first time, features Apple Silicon with the M2 Ultra Chip and the versatility of PCIe expansion. It can be configured with up to 24-core CPU and 76-core GPU, along with a 32-core Neural Engine.

Compared to the Intel Mac Pro, the new Mac Pro with M2 Ultra is 3x faster in video transcoding and real-world pro workflows. The Mac Pro features seven PCle expansion slots, with six open expansion slots that support gen 4, which is 2x faster than before. Additionally, it has advanced connectivity and eight built-in Thunderbolt 4 ports. It supports up to eight external Displays and has WiFi 6E along with Bluetooth 5.3.

The new Mac Pro is available today and shipping to customers next week. Starting at a price point of $6,999 and $6,599 with the student discount.
