Since 2011, Apple has had a dedicated app just for movie trailers. In fact, it is one of the oldest apps still available to download on the App Store, but not for much longer. Legacy design language aside, the website’s banner has been updated to read “Apple TV app is the new home of iTunes Movie Trailers”, according to a report by MacRumors.
Apple has been consistently updating the catalog of movie trailers for almost 13 years, with some hits including Marvel’s “Avengers” being exclusively debuted on the app in 2012, and more recently, Gerwig’s “Barbie” and Nolan’s “Oppenheimer”.
It is currently not yet clear when Apple plans to axe the platform, but it is safe to say that we can expect an announcement from them soon. It is also not yet known if Apple plans to keep the website up or have it redirect to the Apple TV app.
