Apple TV+ is set to thrill viewers with the premiere of  “The Buccaneers,” a vibrant period drama inspired by Edith Wharton’s novel. The grand world of 1870s London society is the stage for this new series, debuting on November 8, 2023. It’s a rich narrative of ambition, allure, and the clash of old and new worlds.

“The Buccaneers” tells the story of some rich young American women who come to England in the olden days. They want to live big lives that go way beyond what women are expected to do at that time. They’re pretty and bold, and they don’t just do what they’re told.

Katherine Jakeways made this show and added her own modern touch to Wharton’s old story. Apple TV+ picked this show to add to its mix of new and different shows they’ve got going on.

The show has a bunch of new actors like Kristine Froseth, Alisha Boe, and Christina Hendricks who are playing the young women, or “buccaneers,” stars of the show. In October, they said Simone Kirby would be in the show too, playing the woman who’s supposed to look after the girls.

Filming Backdrops and Critical Acclaim

They started filming in March 2022 in places like Madrid and Scotland. Glasgow was made to look like New York City from a long time ago. People saw them filming at Glasgow’s City Chambers in July.

People who review TV shows say “The Buccaneers” is really good. Rotten Tomatoes says 90% of people liked it, and Metacritic gave it a score that means most critics think it’s pretty good.

Apple TV says the show is about American girls who come to London to find rich husbands, but what they really want is to have exciting lives and do more than just get married.

“The Buccaneers” is about these young women trying to make their own way in the world, even back then. Starting tomorrow, we can all watch as they try to shake up the way things are in London’s fancy world.
