A new change to the Apple TV that we previously reported about is now happening.
With the release of the tvOS 17.2 beta, it means the previous iTunes Movies and TV Shows apps have lost their previous functionality by Apple.
Users that are wanting to see their movie and TV show purchases and catalog, as well as purchasing and renting options will all be done through the Apple TV app.
There is a message brought on the Apple TV screen after the updated is downloaded and installed on the device. However, both the iTunes Movies and TV shows apps still appear in the beta, but when they are opened, users are prompted to view their catalog and make purchases through the Apple TV app.
By doing this, it makes purchasing and renting movies and TV shows all done in one place on the Apple TV. On top of that, it brings more functionality to the app where it some places there wasn’t before.
One would also imagine that in an update or two after the tvOS 17.2 update that both the iTunes Movies and TV Shows apps will be removed from the Apple TV and tvOS altogether.
