Apple TV 4K users can stream Tennessee vs. Alabama college basketball game in 4K this weekend

It’s been another week and there will be at least one men’s college basketball game this weekend that can be streamed in 4K for Apple TV 4K users.

The game will be an SEC matchup between Tennessee and Alabama. It will air at 8 p.m., Saturday, March 2, on ESPN. It will serve as ESPN’s “4K Game of the Week,” according to TVAnswerman.com.

DirecTV Stream and YouTube TV have been said to be the two TV providers that will have said game available in 4K for its users.

Please note that YouTube TV subscribers must have the 4K add-on for an additional $9.99 a month in order to get access to the 4K stream of the game.

Please note that the regular ESPN channel and ESPN app will only have the game available in 1080p HD. The 4K stream of the game will not be available on ESPN+ either.

According to TVAnswerman, the game “will likely be ‘upconverted’ from 1080p HD.  The upscaled 4K would mean that the game was produced in 1080p HD on site and upgraded to 4K for the home transmission. ESPN did some 2023 college football regular season games in upscaled 4K after offering games in native 4K in previous seasons.”

Both DirecTV Stream and YouTube TV are both available to stream on the Apple TV 4K, along with the iPhone, iPad, and Mac.
