Yesterday, we reported that a backend code references Apple’s upcoming iPad and iPad mini. Now, Nicolás Alvarez, the same guy who discovered several upcoming products in the past, found new references to Apple’s future home accessory, which has been rumored for quite a long time.

The backend code references an unreleased device with the identifier “HomeAccessory17,1”, which will be the first time that Apple uses that identifier as it appears that the company is entering a new product category. Similarly, the HomePod uses the “AudioAccessory” identifier.

Given that the identifier name has 17,1, and Apple’s upcoming iPhone 16 models use “iPhone17,x”, this suggests that this upcoming home accessory will use the upcoming A18 chip, which would fully support Apple’s upcoming Apple Intelligence features.

Just like the HomePod, the code indicates that this “home accessory” will be running a software variant of tvOS, which may be called “homeOS” as tvOS 17.4 previously referenced Apple’s development towards that operating system earlier this year.

Speaking of tvOS, Apple is working on two new Apple TV models with identifiers AppleTV14,4 and AppleTV14,5, which may be refreshed models with either the A15 or M2 chip since iPad identifiers with “14,x” refer to models with either of those chips.

With several new code leaks over the past week, it looks like Apple is gearing up for its annual fall event to announce new iPhone 16 models, Apple Watch models, iPad models, and even Apple TV and home products sometime in September. We’ll keep you posted on further details on those upcoming products as we get closer to Apple’s announcement.
