An anonymous source on X has revealed several chip specifications for Apple’s upcoming devices that are expected to launch this spring. This includes the iPad 11, which is expected to have the A16 chip, and the upcoming iPad Air, which is expected to have the M3 chip. Now the same source indicates that the fourth-generation iPhone SE is expected to feature a chip with the identifier T8140, which corresponds to both the A18 and A18 Pro chips. Since the iPhone SE is a more budget-friendly option, we can expect the SE to feature just the base A18 chip. This makes a bit more sense as the iPhone SE always uses the same chip as the latest flagship iPhone back in the day:
- 1st generation: A9 chip from iPhone 6s
- 2nd generation: A13 chip from iPhone 11
- 3rd generation: A15 chip (with 4-core GPU) from iPhone 13
So we can expect this next iPhone SE to follow suit. Other features we can expect for the upcoming iPhone SE are a 6.1-inch OLED display, Face ID, a USB-C port, a single 48-megapixel rear camera, 8GB of RAM to support Apple Intelligence, and Apple’s first in-house 5G modem, and a recently leaked photo indicates that the next iPhone SE would feature the Dynamic Island instead of the notch from the iPhone 14.
We’re just a few months until Apple is expected to debut this iPhone along with the iPad 11 and iPad Air (M3), so only time will tell.
