Recently, espresso Displays Pty Ltd had a booth at CES 2025, showcasing their product lineup to a range of media and industry personnel in the heart of Las Vegas, Nevada. For CES the year prior, their displays were nominated for the 2024 & 2025 Innovation Award – a high accolade only given to the best products on showcase of the year. This is warranted after seeing the products in person, and being able to witness the build quality of the displays. espresso has defined the top end of the portable display market, being able to provide a quality product for a price that everyday busy-bodies and budget conscious entrepreneurs can enjoy almost anywhere in the world.
The company is small and has a team of passionate designers, marketers and engineers which have been able to deliver a personable approach to taking on the worldwide technology market – sometimes offering calls with customers to make sure that issues are sorted out promptly and ensuring the user is at the heart of their decision making processes. Since founding in 2018, espresso has been able to make several iterations of their displays. Each time they have been able to hone in on what makes their products stand out from competitors and excel in becoming an necessity in your technical arsenal.
Whilst the Display 15 does not have touch functionality like others in the lineup, it gives many people a much lower cost to get introduced to the espresso ecosystem – much similar to that of the iPhone SE in the iPhone linup. Compatability within the Display 15 however isn’t an issue. All products which are compatible with their flagship models are still compatable, with the difference being that there is no touch screen functionality – unlike the Touch model variations of the Display 15, 13 and Pro 17 at slightly higher price points.
What is the espresso Display?
The espresso Display range are portable displays made from aerospace grade materials, connected up using just a single USB-C cable (for most users) that can provide up to 17 inches of extra screen real estate. The sizes are similar to that of many laptop sizes, starting with 13 inches, then 15 inches and maxing out at 17 inches. Some varients of the displays also feature touchscreen capabilities, which allow your finger to be the cursor!
They are an up and coming company, hoping to bring an Apple-style product to the market that is seemingly overloaded with cheap tat or pricey purchases – espresso hopes to be the middle ground and provide the customer with great customer support. On TrustPilot and other review sites, espresso receives hundreds of positive (and some negative) reviews, which also showcases their dedication to customer service.
In more recent developments, US airline giant, Delta has included rental espresso Displays in several airport lounges. JFK (New York), LAX (Los Angeles) and BOS (Boston) Delta One Lounges all feature a range of espresso Displays that are on offer for visitors to borrow when in the lounge before their flight. Similarly, Australian airline, Quantas, also features the displays on their store catalogue.
Who makes the espresso Display?
espresso is an Autralian based technology company which produces a range of portable displays as well as in-house software that helps them use their displays productively. The products go through multiple rounds of testing, development and quality assurance before they are sent out to be manufactured in Malaysia. Once produced, the displays are able to be delivered internationally, however some customers have noted slow(er) shipping times, especially around peak times due to espresso being a small business and having to handle different countries’ customs and duty fees – which can differ greatly between territories.
To put it simply, product development and research is completed by espresso’s headquaters in Australia, with the actual units being made in Malaysia and then shipped worldwide.
How much is the espresso Display 15?
The espresso Display 15 has 2 different options based on if the user requires a touchscreen or not. For the non-touch variation, it’s $299 USD and includes a magnetic mount for the display, which also folds up into a compact disc shape. If a touchscreen is important, this variation starts at $549 USD and also includes the stand. Both also include a suitably long 1 meter / 3.3 ft USB-C cable and microfiber cleaning cloth.
These prices are designed to be affordable, but espresso also links some refurbished models on their website for even more of a discount. Right now, Appleosophy does not have an affiliate relationship to espresso, but we would love for our readers to have a promotional offer code in the future.
Is the espresso Display compatible with my device?
Compatability has been a key aim for the espresso line of products, with a dedicated page on their website about which products can be used with their displays. Some devices are able to make use of the display as an extension of their screen real estate — however some devices will just provide a large-scale mirror of the main device’s screen.
On desktop, espresso has also developed a range of in-house applications which provide the user with extra functionality and ease of use. Most notably, an extension which lets users change the configuration of their screens without having to go into Settings to change it! A user can simply drag their mouse over the edge of the screen which the user has their display connected and the layout will automatically change. The user will then be able to move their cursor onto the extended display!
Does espresso offer any other products?
Yes, espresso offers a key lineup of 3 flagship products. The Display 15, Touch 15 & 13, and espresso Pro 17 & 15. Each product targets different types of users which would need to make use of a portable display. There are also a range of accessories such as a stylus, extra stands and travel cases which are available outside of what’s included in the box. There’s lots of benefits to a portable display, but is there another company which provides a top of the line product & service combo like espresso?
We hope to have a unit of espresso Display 15 to review in the future in order to provide an original review on our experience with the product and to give a definitive recommendation.
