American Eagle stores have been accepting Apple Pay for a few years now. I would know since I have gone out to the American Eagle nearest to me to purchase something from its website in the store just so I could my preferred and most secure method of paying for items, Apple Pay.
We can confirm that American Eagle does accept Apple Pay in its app (and stores) since they updated it to accept the payment six months ago.
It looks as though they took my advice that I gave them on Twitter last year too.
Tried to make a purchase through the @AEO app but was unable to pay with  Pay. This is weird since their stores offer the payment method but not their app. I’m hoping that this changes in 2019. It’s more secure and very convenient. Make it happen! #ApplePay #AmericanEagle

So how is this all possible?
Well, since American Eagle stores are currently closed due to the coronavirus pandemic, the only way to get items through them with Apple Pay is through its iOS app that is available on the iPhone. The company’s app is called “AE + Aerie” and can be found here.
Find what you’re looking for in the app, put it in your bag and when you get to the checkout page, you should be able to see some form of Apple Pay icon that enables you to pay for your transaction with Apple Pay.
The CDC has recommended that people pay for their items with Apple Pay and other contactless/NFC forms of payment so that customers are not taking the risk of using dirty physical cash in stores, but that payment methods like Apple Pay are quite secure so that customers will not have the issue of their credit/debit card information getting hacked.
Do you plan on using Apple Pay through the American Eagle app now that you know it accepts it? Let us know in the comments!
