Recent rumors have suggested Apple’s upcoming iPhone models will not include a power adapter or EarPods in the box. A slight code tweak in iOS 14.2 evidently confirms Apple’s plan to not include EarPods in the box.

In earlier versions of iOS 14 and iOS, a string of code mentions using the supplied headphones to reduce RF Energy exposure.

In the iOS 14.2 beta code, the string of code has been adjusted to say ‘headphones’ removing the ‘supplied’ from the statement, which suggests the exclusion of the EarPods. The updated string of code is below:

To reduce exposure to RF energy, use a hands-free option, such as the built-in speakerphone, headphones, or other similar accessories.

All previous iOS versions and builds have included the word ‘supplied’ before headphones, which hints to this year’s iPhone models shipping without headphones.

Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo said earlier in the year iPhone 12 models will not come with EarPods in the box, with Apple potentially removing the power adapter from the box, leaving customers with a USB-C to Lightning Cable, iPhone 12 device, and informative booklets.
