Earlier this year, just a few days after New Year’s, a riot occurred at the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. This was also just before Joe Biden sworn in as the current U.S. President. After this calamity left five people dead, 140 casualties, and hundreds of arrests, news reporters discovered that Trump supporters abused the app Parler by plotting their attacks to storm the Capitol.

After officials provided this evidence, Apple, along with Google and Amazon, immediately banned Parler from their respective app stores. Parler has been working to get its app reinstated, but without a lot of success. Apple sent information to Parler that indicated that “There is no place for hateful, racist, discriminatory content on the App Store.” Apple would reinstate Parler if the company would improve on its content moderation.

Just last week, Apple sent out another letter that brought good news. Thanks to the Parler’s proposed moderation practices, Apple will consider reinstating Parler. Apple didn’t reveal the changes Parler had agreed to, but Apple will approve Parler immediately once Parler submitted its app. As for the rerelease date, it’s ultimately up to Parler to decide.
