Recently, leaker DylanDKT has reported that future MacBooks will incorporate 1080p webcams as a much dire upgrade. Now the leaker also reported on Twitter that the LiDAR Scanner will remain exclusive to the iPhone 13 Pro lineup for another year, contradicting early rumors that Apple will bring this scanner to the lower-end models.
The 2020 iPad Pro first introduced this advanced scanner followed by the iPhone 12 Pro lineup. The scanner can measure the displacement between the sensor and objects precisely by using Time-of-Flight technology. This is essentially useful for an enhanced AR experience or Portrait mode photos, especially in Night Mode.
Other improvements we can see across the iPhone 13 lineup are the similar design to the iPhone 12, a new processor, a smaller notch, expanded 5G support, and improved ultra-wide lens for the Pro models. If everything’s set without supply constraints, we could see these models as soon as September.
