Apple’s Online Store has gone down ahead of a possible iPad Pro release today. The company is widely expected to announce the new models in a press release later this day.

The new models, codenamed J617 and J620, would be the first update to the iPad Pro lineup since April 2021. The new models are expected to retain the same 11-inch or 12.9-inch display size but receive an M2 chip. According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg:

“The new iPads will look similar to the pro model from last year, bringing the same flat-edge design into its fourth year. In contrast, the original iPad Pro design from 2015 only lasted three years. But the current look is slicker and aligns with the design of Apple’s other iPads and the iPhone, so it makes sense to stick with it for now.”

Furthermore, Apple CEO Tim Cook tweeted this morning a teaser for a new iPad device with the hashtag #TakeNote, referencing the Apple Pencil accessory for iPad products. The last time Apple announced major products in press releases was in December 2020 with the AirPods Max.

The company is no longer considering holding another event this fall, replacing one with multiple press releases for new products such as the new M2-powered iPad Pro, a new 10th-generation iPad with an overhauled design, new 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros, as well as software updates for the iPhone, iPad, and the Mac ”“ iOS 16.1, iPadOS 16.1, and macOS Ventura.
