Bloomberg reported today that Apple is working on some new health features, including an iPad Health app, mood tracking, and vision conditions, which will be coming to iOS 17 and iPadOS. These features will be announced this summer at WWDC23, and the AI Coach will be coming later.

The AI Coach is a secret project codenamed “Quartz” that is using AI to personalize and create routines for users to stay active and sleep better. This will work through data from the Apple Watch user.

Apple had a partnership with the local government in Singapore to create the “LumiHealth” initiative that pays economic-based rewards to users who accomplish an exercise goal. In this case, Apple will have a monthly fee to get your personalized routine created by AI.

The feature is supposed to be launched next year, and the health, Siri, AI teams, and Apple services are working on the AI Coach.

Also, Apple is working on Health app compatibility for the iPad for the first time. The goal is to make a more available app and be able to see information as electrocardiograms on a bigger screen. This will help improve the usage of iPads and the Health app in hospitals because of the popularity of tablets in this industry. The app is said to be available on iPadOS 17 once it is released to the public, which will likely happen this fall.

The new tool to track your mood is a new effort by the company to improve the mental health of the Apple ecosystem. This will ask you questions about your day and compare the results over time. In the future, Apple wants to use algorithms to track mood via speech, words typed, etc. Another feature that is coming is to manage visual conditions, such as nearsightedness.

Gurman clarified that the mood tracking has nothing to do with the Journal app that Apple is also working on, but is not health-focused and is more to integrate some features with social networks.

The last mentioned features, iPad Health app, mood tracking, and visual conditions, are going to be unveiled in June at WWDC 2023 and will be available for users on the newest iOS 17 and iPadOS 17 version.

Talking about WWDC, Gurman said that the Apple mixed reality headset is coming this summer at the event with an Apple Fitness+ app optimized for the device.

Apple has been working on the health division for so many years. The upcoming features coming to the Apple Watch are blood pressure measurement and non-invasive glucose monitoring. These features are years ahead of coming to the public.
