In the past several months, Kroger and Kroger-owned stores have become more modern with the addition of Apple Pay acceptance.
This would include Kroger stores and other ones the company owns such as Harris Teeter, Ralph’s, King Soopers, QFC, and others.
However, a few other stores it owns have not received support for Apple Pay and contactless payments. That is said to change next month.
The current rumor right now is as of Monday, June 5, all Kroger and Kroger-owned stores will begin accepting Apple Pay and contactless payment methods. This would include all of the company’s stores and brands that are the following: Baker’s, City Market, Dillons, Food 4 Less, Foods Co, Fred Meyer, Fry’s, Gerbes, Jay C Food Store, King Soopers, Kroger, Mariano’s, Metro Market, Pay-Less Super Markets, Pick’n Save, QFC, Ralphs, Ruler, and Smith’s Food and Drug.
Kroger emailed employees about the upcoming changes within the store and the company. Part of the email stating the changes was posted by a user on Reddit too.
Ironically, this is the same day as the 2023 World Wide Developers Conference (WWDC) keynote, so Apple could be announcing this during the event too.
By accepting Apple Pay in all of its stores, customers would be able to pay from their iPhone or Apple Watch with their credit or debit card through the Wallet app, as well as pay with Apple Card and Apple Cash.
