Apple has started rolling out watchOS 9.6 to the public with important bug fixes and security improvements. This update addresses 12 security vulnerabilities with Find My, WebKit, and more. A few kernel vulnerabilities have also been addressed in this update.

watchOS 9.6 comes a month and three days after the release of watchOS 9.5.2 which addressed a security vulnerability. Apple keeps refining the software experience with every watchOS update by fixing bugs and security flaws. You can expect the size of the update to be around 250-300 MB on your Apple Watch. The size can vary depending upon the Apple Watch model that you have and the software version you’re updating from.

According to Apple,

“This update provides important bug fixes and security updates and is recommended for all users.

Users can update their Apple Watch by going into the Watch App on their iPhone and navigating to My Watch>General>Software Update. The update requires your Apple Watch to be near your paired iPhone and have at least 50% Battery.

There seem to be no new features on watchOS 9.6, as it could be one of the last updates to watchOS 9 featuring refinements and improvements across the system. The upcoming major update to watchOS – watchOS 10 is expected to be released to the public in September with several new features and changes.

Along with watchOS 9.6, Apple also released iOS 16.6, iPadOS 16.6, macOS Ventura 13.5, and tvOS 16.6 to the public with bug fixes and several important security updates.

It is highly recommended to update your Apple Watch to the latest software for the best experience and the best security. Did you find any new features in this update?
