Britbox, the streaming service created by the BBC and iTV, has quietly raised its monthly price in the U.S.
Previously, the service cost just $7.99 a month, but that monthly has been raised by $1 and is now $8.99 a month. This has been shown on the service’s website as well.
So far, the price increase has been added to the Britbox iOS app which now shows it costs $8.99 a month to subscribe to. It has not been impacted by its channel on Apple TV Channels. That could be happening soon, though.
Britbox is home of classic British television and movies such as “Classic Doctor Who,” “Inspector Lewis,” and “An Adventure in Space and Time.”
The price increase does come at a time where other streaming services have copied from one another and raised their prices. This includes Peacock, Paramount+, and Netflix, which eliminated its $9.99 Basic tier plan last month that was the cheapest ad-free version of the service. YouTube Premium raised its prices as well last month.
Britbox is currently available to stream on the iPhone, iPad, Mac, and Apple TV.
