Apple Watch SE is Apple’s most budget-conscious smartwatch yet offers the core Apple Watch experience for any user. We previously hoped that Apple would launch an updated model of the Apple Watch SE last September, but that timeframe came and went, so it’s been over two years since Apple updated the Apple Watch SE. The second-generation Apple Watch SE debuted in September 2022, and it features a nylon back and a faster S8 SiP.
If you’re holding out for a new Apple Watch SE, you’re in luck as Mark Gurman’s latest edition of his Powered On newsletter indicates that Apple will launch a redesigned Apple Watch SE later this year; however, he did not reveal any design details this time. Last September, he previously reported that the Apple Watch SE could feature a plastic or polycarbonate casing to reduce cost. This would allow Apple to potentially offer several fun colors similar to the iPhone 5c from 2013. However, despite some “cost and quality challenges”, he believes Apple is still moving forward with the plastic design. Such a colorful plastic design that’s lightweight overall would be more appealing for parents looking to buy an Apple Watch for their kids. Apple has been heavily promoting family-sharing features on Apple Watch cellular models and the company even launched a dedicated “Apple Watch For Your Kids” webpage to promote all of the latest features that give parents a piece of mind.
The next-generation Apple Watch SE is expected to debut later in September along with the Apple Watch Series 11.
