Apple declared iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 8 as vintage

More older Apple products have been making their way to either the vintage or obsolete list, and this time, Apple has added both the iPhone 7 Plus and iPhone 8 to the list of vintage products. For the iPhone 8, Apple added the 64GB and 256GB storage tiers to that list, but the 128GB tier hasn’t been added to the list yet. Reason being is that the iPhone 8 initially came in 64GB and 256GB configurations; the 128GB wasn’t offered until September 2019 when Apple introduced the iPhone 11 series. The (PRODUCT)RED models of the iPhone 8 models were already on that list since those were discontinued earlier on September 2018, which was when the iPhone XR/XS models were introduced. The iPhone 8 models were discontinued altogether on April 2020 when Apple debuted the iPhone SE (2nd generation).

Additionally, on another note, Apple also declared both the iPad Air 2 and iPad mini 2 as obsolete since those models were discontinued on March 2017. That was when Apple introduced the budget $329 iPad for the first time, specifically the 5th-generation iPad, to compete in the education market.

To review, Apple declares its products as vintage when it’s been at least five years since they were last distributed for sale. Repairs from Apple retail stores or Apple Authorized Service Providers (AASPs) may be eligible for those products, but only if specific parts remain available. Vintage products will be marked as obsolete once at least seven years have been elapsed since they were last offered by Apple. This will end support for any repairs for those devices as Apple will not provide parts for those devices anymore.
